mothers can relate submitted by fairytale on August 3, 2013, 8:32am Mothers will be able to relate to the mama squirrel in this book. Funny book for parents and children alike.

a protective parent submitted by FordAlpha on August 14, 2018, 10:18pm This is a brief, charming story of a mother squirrel who takes her parental duty very seriously, fiercely defending her young against any real or perceived threat. It's fun to read, especially to make the angry-squirrel noises. The book's climax occurs when a bear wanders into the squirrels' park, and Mama mobilizes all her friends and relatives to chase it away. The townspeople then erect a monument in her honor, although it was never clear that the bear posed any threat to anyone other than the squirrel family.

Fun to Read! submitted by Sara W on July 13, 2019, 11:12am Mama Squirrel’s “chik chik chik” can get very loud once the whole family chimes in! This is a great story, and we like it best with plenty of enthusiastic squirrel sound effects. The repeating patterns make it easy for everyone to join in.
