Don't Be Put Off by the Cover! submitted by sdunav on June 16, 2014, 2:15pm This is entertaining urban fantasy with a bit of romance. McGuire's world-building is fun, her characters are complicated (ballroom dancing! religious mice! best female dragons ever), and the story moves quickly.

Disconcertingly addictive submitted by Bakalm on July 17, 2020, 11:54pm McGuire's writing is quality trash (not a contradiction in terms). Her series tend to be enjoyable speed-reads, with smart female protagonists and a healthy dose of the fantastic, and this one is no exception. One of my favorite guilty pleasures--but it is guilty escapism, make no mistake. Would recommend very highly to anyone looking to get into urban fantasy.
