Funny and Clever Today as 350 Years Ago submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on July 8, 2020, 6:23am Moliere condemns society’s duplicity by exposing the different personalities of Alceste and Célimène along other of her lovers. Moliere's characters--- The hypocrites, the sycophants, the two-faced, the flirts, and the forever morally outraged---and situations are as common today as in 17th century France.

I read this play after having read École de femmes, Tartuffe, Don Juan. Le Misanthrope was less likeable; the three others were quite engaging and entertaining.
