It all started with a mysterious and seemingly innocent postcard, but from that point nothing was to remain the same in the life of Griffin Moss, a quiet, solitary artist living in London. His logical, methodical world was suddenly turned upside down by a strangely exotic woman living on a tropical island thousands of miles away. Who is Sabine? How can she "see" what Griffin is painting when they have never met? Is she a long-lost twin? A clairvoyant? Or a malevolent angel? Are we witnessing the flowering of a magical relationship or a descent into madness? This stunning visual novel unfolds in a series of postcards and letters, all brilliantly illustrated with whimsical designs, bizarre creatures, and darkly imagined landscapes. Inside the book, Griffin and Sabine's letters are to be found nestling in their envelopes, permitting the reader to examine the intimate correspondence of these inexplicably linked strangers. This truly innovative novel combines a strangely fascinating story with lush artwork in an altogether original format.

The Jolly Postman for adults submitted by LibraryMaven on July 31, 2014, 9:51pm As a child, I loved books in which you got to read other people's letters- The Jolly Postman, for example, or Letters from Felix. As I got older, I loved Sophie's World for its letters and metaphysics. In Griffin & Sabine, you have the fun of actual letters in actual envelopes, in addition to postcards, plus art and musing on reality. What's not to love? My personal jury is still out on what exactly is happening between Griffin and Sabine and am looking forward to reading the rest of the books.

Beautiful illustration submitted by kferguson on June 26, 2017, 9:05am Beautiful artwork and a meditation on art, a mystery, a love story...

A lovely correspondence submitted by ChallngOfTheStrs on June 10, 2022, 1:43pm This book is the start to a rather mysterious love story between two people on opposite sides of the planet. The art is unique and engaging, and readers get the tactile pleasure of opening letters. I recommend this for fans of magical realism and epistolary fiction, and if you enjoy it, to definitely follow up with the sequels.
