Not quite what I expected submitted by willow on August 15, 2015, 10:51pm I was under the impression that this was a book about a father and child....maybe I was getting it confused with "In Daddy's Arms I am Tall"! Anyway, it is indeed about a father and child but the Nordic sparseness is discomfiting and the topic is the mother's death, so be prepared. The illustrations are kind of interesting but weird.

My Father's Arms Are A Boat submitted by SBNB on August 17, 2018, 7:52pm This book is translated from Norwegian, which isn't a bad thing, but it perhaps adds to the slight awkwardness of the book. Yes, the book touches on the fact that the child's mother is dead, but it's just a passing mention and not the whole book. But overall, I thought the pictures were more awkward than the text. Instead of comforting or cozy, the pictures made the book feel empty and cold and strange. So, if you can get past the weird pictures and the differentness of the text, it could be a warm, cozy, father-child book.
