very good submitted by Midnight on June 25, 2014, 2:10pm I like the album a lot but it's not country anymore. It's pop. But it's still good.

Great Music! submitted by zoe.dvh on June 20, 2015, 5:52pm These tunes are very catchy and upbeat. They'll have you on the dancefloor in no time!

Transitional Album submitted by Maria Maguire on July 6, 2018, 1:27pm When it first came out, I hated this album. I felt betrayed by Taylor Swift, that any pop song she sang was akin to joining the dark side. Now that I've grown out of that adolescent grudge, I love this album.

While there are several pop songs on the album, there are also many of the simple country tunes that made her famous. This album actually contains one of my favorite songs of hers, "The Lucky One", probably about Joni Mitchell. And while I still prefer country over pop, you can't deny that her more trendy songs are catchy and fun. So, unless you're still mad at Taylor for ever even dabbling in pop, you'll enjoy her classic style and some new trends on this album.

Full track listing: State of Grace // Red // Treacherous // I Knew You Were Trouble // All Too Well // 22 // I Almost Do // We Are Never Getting Back Together // Stay Stay Stay // The Last Time // Holy Ground // Sad Beautiful Tragic // The Lucky One // Everything Has Changed // Starlight // Begin Again

Interesting submitted by zmclaugh on August 2, 2018, 5:53pm An interesting moment for Taylor Swift. Some good songs.

Red submitted by Varshini on July 3, 2019, 10:53pm Some are good, some are bad. I feel like her personality changed a bit with this album...?

Undeniable Songwriting Prowess submitted by Meginator on July 12, 2019, 10:54pm Taylor Swift is an amazing songwriter, and she is in rare form on this album, which gains all the more power for the consistency of its lyrical content. For a breakup album, these songs have remarkable variety, ranging from the defiance of “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” to slight hints of regret that creep their way into some of the album’s deeper cuts. Swift has a keen ear for catchy melodies that extends to every track here, and she allows just enough country inflections to come through (usually in background instrumentation or the occasional twang in her vocals) to mark this as her transitional album between her country roots and the pure pop that characterizes her more recent releases. Whatever the reason, Swift is at the peak of her powers here, and these songs so perfectly encapsulate the mix of catchy hooks, lyrical naivete, and sneaky musical depth that makes her talent so unique and so undeniable.
