Good message submitted by cbrewster on August 25, 2013, 8:06pm This book is based on a true story of a young boy who lives in the south under Jim Crow laws. He imagines that the water coming out of a "whites only" drinking fountain much better tasting and more cool than the "colored only" drinking fountain. One day he becomes determined to try this delicious water only to find out that it tastes exactly the same as the other drinking fountain. With further examination he finds that the water comes from the same pipe even. He then wonders if it is the same water, why does there need to be two fountains? This makes him reexamine many things in my life that were divided by race.
