Vampires! submitted by kimaives on August 22, 2013, 1:48pm This book is actually about vampires and not the usual military-suspense genre this author normally writes. I, for one, have not jumped on the current "vampire craze" so I was not happy to have James Rollins explore this area with his new book. It brings to life people you would think of as long dead in a struggle between good and evil non-deads just to move the story forward. I found it boring and unbelievable which is too bad since this was one of my favorite authors. I will not be reading any more to the Sangines books.
Nice urban fantasy submitted by OldMikie on November 5, 2014, 12:14pm Blood Gospel avoids most of the pitfalls of the genre. The bad guys are really bad. A worthy opponent to the heroes. It appeared to be well researched in that the many historical details were believed by me. The Rollins/Cantrell collaboration is nice and tight. There is no obvious break from one to the other. They are good writers. The Heroine didn't do a lot of dithering, and the Hero wasn't too aw shucks goofy. The Blood Gospel met my reader tests: I read the entire book, and I picked up the second in the series. Nice book.
