Mother/Daughter submitted by crazypockets on June 18, 2013, 4:05pm The thing that struck me most about this movie was how it seemed to be really heavily geared toward teenage girls who are in their "I hate my mom" phase of life. The animation was cute, and I liked the overall message, but something about it made it fall a little flat for me. I probably would've liked it more if it'd been done more in the animation style of "Beauty and the Beast" or "The Princess and the Frog." I'm personally tired of CGI animation, but that's just me. It had a good moral, the scenery was pretty, and I liked the music.

Good submitted by poptart887 on June 19, 2013, 2:03pm This movie is better than i expected, but still not one of Disney's better films.

Okay submitted by jarroyo on June 19, 2013, 11:02pm This movie is okay. It's not as good as some of the other Disney/Pixar movies, but still worth seeing. My 4 year-old likes it a lot.

what I thought about it: scary submitted by souleyman ribier on June 25, 2013, 2:14pm I am almost 7 years old.
This movie kind of frightened me, but it was a good movie.

really good! submitted by fairytale on July 3, 2013, 11:17pm I really enjoyed this movie - some parts were a bit dark for me, but overall, I thought it was fantastic. Can't believe I waited so long to finally watch it!

Brave submitted by honordenver on July 9, 2013, 12:38pm This movie was ok. I thought it was good how the mother and daughters relationship got better after the mother turned into a bear

Great movie submitted by payalag on July 13, 2013, 3:11am My 4 year old daughter loves this movie and so do I. Liked the scenery and the naughty triplets. They brighten up the movie.

great movie submitted by cathydobbins on July 21, 2013, 11:49pm we love the funny little brothers. It is great to see a really strong princess, might have to buy my daughter a bow and arrow (totally worth it). super cute happy to watch it every time

Awesome submitted by Motomori on August 2, 2013, 4:01pm Awesome movie! I recommend for all ages!

Be Like Merida submitted by rmhawkins on August 28, 2013, 6:17am All teenage girls should be like Merida in their independence and can do attitude. If I had a daughter, I would want her to see this movie.

Not worth the hype submitted by mrajraspn08 on June 19, 2014, 12:53pm Highly predictable, and the characters were pretty flat. I might've liked it when I was a kid, but just so-so now.

Brave submitted by mk31 on July 20, 2014, 4:02pm I was very disappointed by this movie. Probably my least favorite pixar movie. Although the movie had a good message, it was not very funny and most of the characters were pretty dull.

Brave submitted by SBNB on July 26, 2014, 9:39pm I liked it. It's better than Frozen but not as good as Tangled.

Okay submitted by Kadydja13 on August 4, 2014, 2:31pm Some people call Merida 'selfish' or a 'brat;, but they're wrong. Not as good as Frozen, and Tangled was a bit better than it. But still a good movie :)

Okay submitted by melaniekv on August 18, 2014, 9:02pm This movie was ok.

Not for young kids submitted by lakshmisundarr on August 20, 2014, 12:22am Good movie, but a little vengence

Worst Pixar Movie, Still Good submitted by drewy234432 on June 14, 2015, 7:43am Out of all the pixar movies, this one is by far the worst, but is still a pretty good movie. This movie, unlike the all other pixar movies seemed to be geared towards pre-teens and teenagers instead of young children. I would recommend that you watch this movie because it is a pixar movie.

Brave submitted by kzheng on June 17, 2015, 6:47pm A nice movie about an ancient European princess and her mother

Excellent submitted by sarai koster-mockeridge on July 20, 2015, 2:42pm Great movie showcasing a strong, independent girl! I love that the mother doesn't die like in all the disney movies.

Interesting submitted by kathscot on July 21, 2015, 4:08pm Some of the story was predictable, but other parts were not. I liked the character development.

Entertaining but intense submitted by wendylv on August 1, 2015, 4:41pm We saw this in the theater in my 8 and 10 year old daughters sobbed hysterically at the climax of the movie. It was intense. We had to keep saying, "It's just a movie! It's not real!" The story and characters are very entertaining, creative, and enjoyable and overall we loved the movie. Just be warned if you have a sensitive kid.

Great submitted by steveiew on August 19, 2015, 9:56am I love the mother daughter story.

Brave submitted by carolinepbg on August 3, 2016, 4:41pm My daughter AND sons love this movie and so do their parents. Funny, sometimes moving, magical and well told tale.

Red-haired heroine submitted by purchasingqueen on August 31, 2016, 9:58pm Firey princess with red hair to match her heart.

Strong Female Heroine submitted by Meginator on July 7, 2017, 12:15pm I loved this film! It's refreshing to see a female character star in a movie without needing a (male) love interest, and the fact that Merida is such a strong, self-confident young woman is a bonus. This film has all of Pixar's hallmarks (great animation, a balance of heart and humor, a few scenes that will make you cry for days, etc.) but stands apart for its willingness to put a female character in the spotlight without trivializing her. In doing so, they've made a film that appeals to men and women of all ages and proven that any character can be compelling if they are treated with respect and allowed to stand on their own merits. Well done.

Brave submitted by sandri on August 27, 2018, 4:05pm loved the relationship between Mother and Merida. Show too how brave Merida is to fight for her own desteny breaking with traditions.

Brave submitted by lstorc on June 24, 2019, 8:33am This is a masterful tale that turns old views about gender roles upside down. It's also a powerful tale of mother and daughter communication. It is also a fun-for-all adventure. Strong recommendation.

Brave submitted by c_zhang on June 28, 2019, 11:52pm Highly predictable, and the characters were pretty flat. I might've liked it when I was a kid, but just so-so now. I like the strong main female character who doesn't need a man though.

Merida-Brave and Free submitted by gem on August 10, 2019, 11:38am Merida, the brave and free; however her parents see that she holds potential to strengthen their kingdom and wants her to fit the part-even though she is not your typical princess type. Her brothers are wild and actually pretty entertaining throughout the movie.

Be careful for what you wish for and how you are willing to go about getting your wish. Things change pretty fast when outside influences are given power. But Merida proves she is really a brave and true one.

This movie was / is very inspiring and insightful. Completely worth the watch--every time.

Great n totally underrated kids flick submitted by susieliz on June 22, 2020, 6:52pm Great movie but I forgot how much fighting there is. I love the strong female character!

Strong Female Lead submitted by alemmon100 on August 7, 2021, 9:41pm A great movie with a great role model for young girls . Girl Power!

Good submitted by irmcpherson on August 9, 2021, 6:51pm Good story and animation.

Good submitted by TLW1998 on June 23, 2022, 11:56pm Good story about a strong girl

Good! submitted by Abbie D. on July 10, 2022, 5:14pm This is a good movie! Lots of girl power and the bond between a mother and daughter. Be warned Mor'du the demon bear is pretty scary.

Underrated submitted by Bethybeth07 on August 3, 2022, 4:14pm If you want to talk about strong female lead, this is it. LOVE this movie.

Solid story, a bit scary for littles submitted by robinmariepeterson on July 13, 2023, 9:31am Both my 3yo and 5yo found this a bit scary. The story is solid, but there’s nothing terribly memorable that’s going to make you want to come back for repeated viewings.
