"It's vampire politics as usual around the town of Bon Temps, but never before have they hit so close to Sookie's heart.... Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on that there are things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things she knows about, she'd rather not see--like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet--Felipe de Castro, the vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It's the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric's front yard--especially the body of the woman whose blood he just drank. Now it's up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl's fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who's set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down"-- Provided by publisher.

Sookie Stackhouse submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 15, 2013, 1:43pm While author Charlaine Harris wraps up some plot lines in "Deadlocked," the penultimate novel of her Southern vampire mysteries, the end leaves much to be desired and feels incomplete. It reads as if Harris has in this novel lined up the balls in a game of pool but will not sink the shots until "Dead Ever After," the next and last Sookie book.
You will need to read at least a few of the previous books in the series to understand what is happening in "Deadlocked," but if you enjoyed those you'll enjoy reading this one, too.
Although it is not the author's fault that the cover rendition of Sookie is oddly posed, were I the editor, I would have asked for a better drawing.

OK submitted by kathscot on August 21, 2013, 8:42am There is some action and some mystery, but not as satisfying as other Sookie Stackhouse novels.
