Can you imagine a fake mustache so powerful, it can hypnotize anyone who looks at it? What would you do if you had that power? Lenny Flem Jr (the narrator) gets to find out - or at least, he finds out what his (former?) best friend would do in that situation. It's up to Lenny - and the former TV star Jodie O'Rodeo - to stop him, and in the process, save their town, state, and country!
The story is kind of over-the-top silly. It has very short chapters. For some reason, it did not lend itself well to reading aloud. I might have enjoyed it more if I'd been reading it to myself instead of out loud at bedtime. Then again, it is squarely aimed at upper elementary school kids, so perhaps not even that would have improved the experience for me. My 10 and 13yo sons both really enjoyed it. Written by the same author as the Origami Yoda series, but very different from those.
