Powerful kitchen tools but weak math submitted by camelsamba on August 3, 2014, 10:56pm Once again, the lunch ladies (and their trip of student accomplices) save the day with clever kitchen-themed gear and gadgets. But will they be able to stop the unbeatable mutant mathletes from posh Willowby Academy? Who knows what power is contained in powdered eggs.

One thing that bugged me about this book: I don't know that we're ever told what grade the kids are in, but all the context suggests middle school. But yet the math in the Math Bowl is trivially easy (I say this as someone who competed in math contests from 5th through 9th or 10th grade, both written and quiz bowl style). But that wasn't enough of a detraction from the overall fun of the series to make me dislike the book.
