Excellent submitted by emjane on June 22, 2012, 4:34pm A fascinating look at the differences between French and American cultures as told by an American living in Paris for two years. Baldwin's unique writing style sets this book apart from the myriad of other travelogues.
An Advertiser Abroad submitted by sdunav on June 18, 2013, 5:40pm This was an interesting memoir by a 20-something guy who spends a bit over a year in Paris working for an advertising agency. His writing style takes a bit to get used to and he does do some annoying name-dropping that may make this dated (it's set in 2007-8, before Obama's win). Overall, I recommend it for a light read if you like reading about other cultures or you're interested in Paris. The author didn't travel too much in France outside of Paris, so this is a very urban boho (or bobo, in Francais) story. Though the term 'bobo' is a bit like 'yuppie' - not really au courant anymore.
