Unique submitted by Motomori on July 21, 2013, 1:28pm This was quite a unique book. This is the story about a girl named Dawn ( or Dawnie as a nickname) who has to face the heavy racism in the 1950's. This all starts when she is the only black student at her school to integrate at what used to be ab only white school. She talks about her life and who she wants to be, knowing that she can only get her wish at this school.
I really enjoyed this book because it was one of the few books that I read that teach me an important lesson that I will always use for the rest of my life. I learned from peoples mistakes and learned about actual events that happened in real life. I think people of all ages will enjoy this book and I hope they learn the lessons I have learned about racism and hope.
