A fantastic album from a fantastic band (if you get a chance to see them live, do it; they put on a really energetic show, it's great). This album definitely shows a bit of a Queen influence that is most obvious in the Some Nights intro. One Foot and Carry On are real highlights (One Foot has a really awesome dramatic key change), and of course Some Nights is amazing. Definitely give it a go.
I enjoyed fun.'s first album a lot but was put-off last summer by the over played "We Are Young." Still, I decided to check out their full sophomore effort and I'm glad I did. A really great album that ties together thematically well. Fantastic hooks that are fun (pun intended?) to sing along with. This and The Decemberists' The King Is Dead (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1385211) are in constant rotation in my car in the summer.
I really enjoyed 8 out of the 10 songs on this album. In the CD world, that is unheard of. It definitely gets an A+ grade. Strangely enough, I actually think the first track, which is an intro to Some Nights, is the best. And wow, Nate Ruess has a fantastic voice.
