Fun and Easy to Read

Especially if you're a parent with a divided attention span.
James' book is a short but well-written collection of essays and short observations (think facebook updates, but by an intelligent, fairly wealthy friend who grew up poor and is down to earth) on living in Paris for a year, with a 14 y.o. son and a 10 y.o. dd. and an Italian dh. Lots about food, parenting independent kids, and museums in Paris. Milo the obese chihuahua adds a comic touch, and cancer lends some seriousness.
Breezy skim submitted by mowjac on August 21, 2018, 6:27pm I skimmed this book in an evening, caught by lovely short descriptions on the location in the moment, smiling at her daughter's anecdotes and put off by the distance she kept--it kept me from feeling fully connected to her and her situation. Many of these posts were intended for a fan page which explains the distance, and the essays are much more interesting, but the author's view of herself as poor--years after that situation has changed--also reduced my sympathy.
