A mostly accurate depiction
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 16, 2013, 9:23pm
This television series presents a mostly accurate depiction of the Borgia family from the election of Pope Alexander VI through his death. The family was famous for its licentious behavior and lavish spending of Church funds on food and risque parties.
The actors picked to play the Pope's children do look remarkably like painting of the actual historical figures, although Jeremy Irons does not look like paintings of Alexander VI.
Viewers should note that the series is very violent. This violence is historically accurate, but also (rightfully) disturbing. The violence includes war, murder, torture and rape.
