"It's vampire politics as usual around the town of Bon Temps, but never before have they hit so close to Sookie's heart.... Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on that there are things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things she knows about, she'd rather not see--like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one. There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet--Felipe de Castro, the vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It's the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric's front yard--especially the body of the woman whose blood he just drank. Now it's up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl's fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who's set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down"-- Provided by publisher.

I enjoyed it, but expected more submitted by jcottey on June 27, 2012, 2:52pm I love this series and so I enjoyed the book. However, it seemed short and lacking "meat." Some of the fairy mysteries are resolved, which was enlightening. Sookie has to examine her relationship with Eric and make a decision about their future.

I'm not feeling fulfilled submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 10, 2012, 8:14pm While author Charlaine Harris wraps up some plot lines in "Deadlocked," the end leaves much to be desired and feels incomplete. It is as if Harris has in this novel lined up the balls in a game of pool but will not sink the shots until "Dead Ever After," the next Sookie book and the one Harris promises will be the last in the Southern Vampire series.
You will need to have read at least a few of the previous books in the series to understand what is happening in "Deadlocked," but if you enjoyed those you'll enjoy reading this one, too.
Although it is not the author's fault that the cover rendition of Sookie is oddly posed, were I the editor, I would have asked for a better drawing.

:/ submitted by majean on August 16, 2018, 6:13pm I'm really over the fairies.
