Watchable submitted by markwells on March 18, 2012, 3:16pm Once it got rolling and picked up some steam I decided to stay on board and ride it out. It played a little like a '70s disaster movie with a slicker sound track. The familiar faces and decent acting made this one watchable. I especially enjoyed the last scene which pretty much encapsulated the whole movie. B-.

Fear and Suspense submitted by pkooger on May 29, 2012, 8:51am Contagion posits a worst-case scenario for the outbreak of a super-virus. Apparently all it takes is one infectious person to visit a casino and an airport and BAM, 42 million people are dead and society is collapsing. I knew what the movie was about before I saw it, but it's a testament to the excellent writing that I was still shocked and disbelieving when Patient Zero drops to the floor stone dead, seemingly out of nowhere. The film follows several different characters through the mysterious beginnings of the disease, the mounting spread, and the full-blown epidemic. Some of the characters make it. Others do not. Nobody is unaffected. This is a great movie.

Not very good submitted by sara on August 13, 2013, 9:42pm I was disappointed. It seemed way longer than 106 minutes.

OK movie submitted by LVDS on June 26, 2016, 2:22pm I like medical stories, so this follows. Matt D acts well as the family man. The epidemic story is a bit predictable...some scary "dead" faces in the beginning, otherwise not too gruesome. Just WAS YOUR HANDS!

Good Epidemic Film submitted by Meginator on June 20, 2017, 12:36pm I love science fiction that centers on pandemics, and while Contagion doesn't add anything particularly new, I still think that it is a worthy addition to the to the genre. The acting is top-notch, and I appreciated the fact that the movie doesn't keep all of the big-name talent alive; this makes the stakes seem higher and highlights the ruthless and arbitrary nature of real-world outbreaks. I like the way that the film juggles multiple storylines and its focus both on those at the top (government officials, patient zero, etc.) and ordinary people; most films of this nature focus too heavily on the exceptional, but movies like this draw power from a broader focus on society at large. Some of the stories can get lost in the noise a bit, but the film retains its emotional core. Contagion is a very well made movie and, I think, deserves more respect than it usually receives.

Good submitted by KOH on August 29, 2017, 7:45pm I thought it was pretty entertaining.

not much surprising here submitted by lisa on August 14, 2018, 2:29pm but one of few major movies about such a thing

Alright submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 1:20pm It's kind of cliche and follows the same storyline as other pandemic films.

Contagion submitted by lstorc on July 23, 2019, 4:13pm Contagion is boring. It's ok for exactly what is it; just don't expect a lot.

average submitted by yufamily on August 13, 2019, 12:16pm OK plot and characters

Contagion submitted by ccrose on September 2, 2019, 11:13pm A well made world wide epidemic story. The career often points out all the things that an already infected person touches. One woman is gambling, touches her chips , blows on another players dice, leaves her empty glass, etc but it makes a strong point about the ease with which the microbes move around. The characters are mostly symbolic except for staff from CDC and World Heath Organization who are talking through their theories which are interesting. Reminded me of the world threat of Ebola a few years back. One scary shot shows an autopsy on a young woman begin to pull back the scalp and drill into brain. That and sound effects of the whining high speed drill are clench your fingers scary. There are brief shots of dead faces including a child.

Remarkable submitted by GJBarnett2 on July 8, 2020, 11:28pm Although released 8 years before any of us heard of Covid19, this film plays out like news reports over the last 6 months. Eerily prescient.

Great movie - scary in too real a way submitted by denisemw on August 28, 2020, 9:11am I decided to re-watch given Covid19. The movie is very good and similar to today's situation. Lots of big name stars and good acting. The only odd thing is the synthesizer-type music; not sure if it was popular then but seems dated and 70s-like. It is prominent in the movie.

Good drama/sci-fi.

Life imitates art submitted by mandevil on October 10, 2020, 10:33pm Scary to hear actors speaking the same lines we are hearing today during covid 19. Exactly the same words and phrases
