Not really for kids submitted by emjane on August 9, 2013, 11:05am This text-heavy "mom operating manual" covering the various roles of moms is filled with clever jokes and detailed illustrations, but many not capture the interest of children.

The intended audience of this book is unclear: the picture book format leads one to think children, but the text-heavy pages feature jokes that will resonate much more with mothers than kids. At 56 pages, this book is longer than most, but because it lacks a continuing storyline, it can be read a few pages at a time in multiple sittings.

Cronin's watercolor illustrations are the highlight of the reading experience. Her caricatures of frazzled mothers and detailed backgrounds will give readers plenty to look at and talk about, even if they don't connect with the text.
