Snore. submitted by pkooger on March 22, 2012, 1:00pm This boring surrealist take on Sleeping Beauty would have been better left asleep. The film has all of the inconsistencies of dreaming, with none of the urgency. Was there a theme? Probably, if you dig for it. Was there a story? Not really, even with the familiar fairy tale to piggy-back on. I picked up the film because I like dark, gothic fairy tales. Don't be fooled. The evil fairy is only in the first two minutes. Literally. She introduces the basic premise of the story and then leaves. The other 80 minutes is filled with pointless wandering. I'll recap the plot for you. SPOILERS AHEAD. Anastasia is born and cursed by the evil fairy. Exit evil fairy. The other fairies ameliorate the curse into sleeping. Anastasia falls asleep at a dance recital. In dreamland she takes a train and meets Peter. Peter leaves and she goes looking for him. She meets some little people. She meets some albinos. She meets some gypsies. She meets some lady in Norway. Her dream ends and she meets Peter's great-grandson. He knocks her up. AND SCENE.
