You won't hate this book submitted by CasualTim on February 10, 2012, 4:53pm Don't let the above description ("a spin on the classic alphabet book") convince you that this is a 'series of unfortunate events'-toned book to be appreciated by youth readers. Though there's no content that would get the book banned or frowned upon by the MPAA were it made into a movie, one will benefit most from the humor here by having lived a life full enough of experience to have developed your own fears, tics, and irrational conclusions.

That's what makes Chast's book so wonderful (besides E, Y, and T) - the hated things span the gamut, from universal and diagnosable fears to very personal, very specific horrors. We get to see a tiny window into this specific human's aversions, and that window is so crystal clear that the seemingly random jitters relate directly to the ones that might be peculiar to us. This connection puts a polish on Chast's humor that makes this book one to share. One for a guest room nightstand, for sure.
