Quintessential Bro/Party Country submitted by Meginator on June 25, 2020, 4:21pm This is bro/party country at its very finest, with all of the good and bad that that entails. Luke Bryan’s voice is strong and up to the parts that he sings, whether in the uptempo celebrations of drinking and small towns or the ballads about folks a bit down on their luck. He doesn’t strain himself too much, whether vocally, stylistically, or lyrically (with the possible exception of a surprisingly nuanced “You Don’t Know Jack”), but he knows what he’s good at and sticks to it. This doesn’t appeal too much to me personally, and most of the songs feel substantially similar, but it’s obvious why Bryan’s been so successful.
