Beautiful film submitted by crazypockets on June 16, 2012, 3:04pm This movie doesn't go the traditional story-telling route, so if you're looking for a clear plot line, this probably isn't for you. It's more meant to be an artistic piece on the tragic beauty of life itself. I personally loved it. The cinematography was gorgeous, and everyone in it should have been nominated for Oscars. The performances are fantastic. If you like this, definitely check out "The New World" by the same director.

Good submitted by crp on August 18, 2019, 5:36pm Good movie overall

Gorgeous submitted by brooksza on July 6, 2023, 2:56pm This movie is a phenomenal experience that I'm glad I rewatched. I got totally sucked in. It explores themes of life, loss, spirituality, purpose, forgiveness, masculinity all while looking and sounding stunning. The floating camera and music combine to present a coming of age story that's one of a kind. For a "slow movie" the run time flew by.

I'd love to have seen this in the theater in 2011 and see audiences react to the imagery 20 minutes in. I'm sure this movie is off-putting for some, but I could watch this over and over again.

I still can't believe the actor who played the youngest son isn't Brad Pitt's child.
