Interesting submitted by jennifer-ricks on July 6, 2012, 1:16pm Different but somewhat enjoyable.
Interesting.

One of Us! One of Them! submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2021, 7:55pm I’m a longtime They Might Be Giants fan, but I found this album disappointing overall, beyond a couple of standout tracks. As usual, the band crafts quick-hit pop ditties around seemingly nonsensical (and often funny) lyrics, incorporating a huge vocabulary and an ever-present absurdist sense of humor. At their best, the band uses a surface layer of silliness to explore some deep themes, as they do here with “When Will You Die” and “You Don’t Like Me”, which are both absolutely delightful. However, even after reading most of the lyrics I fail to make any sense whatsoever of most of the other songs, and it sometimes feels like the band is being deliberately obscure. The album’s best tracks rank right up there with the band’s best work, and the musical arrangements are excellent throughout, but I found the album to be inconsistent and a little off-putting.
