Fairy-tale romances end with a wedding, and the fairy tales don't get complicated. In this book, the celebrated writer Mr. Fox can't stop himself from killing off the heroines of his novels, and neither can his wife, Daphne. It's not until Mary, his muse, comes to life and transforms him from author into subject that his story begins to unfold differently.

great story submitted by kevinhe on July 15, 2019, 3:39pm even my dad likes the fox book
loved it submitted by mirelly on April 22, 2020, 9:41pm one of my favorite books by my favorite author! it's a great retelling of a classic story (bluebeard) that doesn't lean too heavily on the source material or rely on tired tropes. it's also unique for being told through both a frame story and multiple internal vignettes, with overlapping characters. my favorite was "the training at madame de silentio's" :)
Creative and fun submitted by Princess Cimorene on July 19, 2020, 10:01pm This book has wonderful voice and a clever concept. It is highly readable, but I do recommend reading it in large chunks so that you can more easily keep track of who is leading the story.
