A good read submitted by kittenkat101 on July 3, 2018, 7:10pm I enjoyed the way the author tied his own journey to Machu Picchu into the historical lens of Bingham, an early 20th century explorer. As far as the genre of anthropological expeditions goes, this book wasn't mindblowing.
Fans of Machu Picchu will enjoy submitted by mowjac on September 23, 2019, 10:42am The author blends his modern story with limited description with the story of Hiram Bingham. I found Bingham a typical colonialist; given how we view the past currently, I think it shows the time of writing (2009). The small facts of the archeoastronomy about Machu Picchu and the clues about it being part of a bigger network are the best parts of the book. I would recommend reading if you are going for a visit.
