Your not-so-typical robot girl meets guy submitted by marielle on July 14, 2011, 11:18pm When I tried to get this into my former anime club's lineup, it was summarily dismissed as "robot porn." And in some ways it is a little bit of a male fantasy.

But Chobits was written by women, not men, and despite the boy meets impressionable (quite literally!) beautiful robot girl premise, the story is touching. It's not about sex; it's about love. It's not about robots; it's about personhood.

Chobits was my first real anime and I'm really quite fond of it.
