True Grit submitted by bubbles1234 on June 19, 2011, 12:58pm An incredibly realistic movie. The actors really became their characters, and the story is filled with adventure.

Just as the Cover Says submitted by Ryan Burdick on July 3, 2011, 9:54am "Great Filmmaking, Great Acting, Great Movie." They don't lie.

good movie submitted by codyson159 on July 8, 2011, 2:09pm original was better but this is still good

Good submitted by ColeenT on July 13, 2011, 5:50pm Good movie

excellent submitted by Johnny Mac on July 17, 2011, 12:53pm even better than the John Wayne version.

good submitted by ekgolden on August 2, 2011, 7:29pm Same plot as the original but a bit different. It was still really good and it was really realistic and full of adventure

One of the best submitted by johnsoem on August 15, 2011, 9:31pm From start to finish you're kept on edge with this tightly wound thriller. The Coen brothers really outdid themselves, creating a world that feels real and personal, inhabited by characters who don't feel fake and a story that mirrors the book very well. Probably one of my favorite movies of all time.

ok submitted by jszchen on August 26, 2011, 11:00pm the original wa s better

Gutsy remake submitted by kathleen824 on August 17, 2012, 4:20pm I thought it was very gutsy to remake such a fabulous John Wayne movie. I initially did not want to watch this movie because I am a huge John Wayne fan and could not imagine Jeff Bridges filling his shoes. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the film. Kudos.

tg submitted by a2sue on July 25, 2013, 8:26pm i'm not really big on westerns, but it was ok

True Grit submitted by wgregory on July 3, 2016, 10:32am Love this one way more than the original.

Pretty Good submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 1:05am I like it better than the original.

awesome! submitted by yufamily on August 13, 2019, 12:17pm An excellent movie for the entire family

Great Western from the Coen Brothers submitted by sumsaylor on July 17, 2022, 12:39pm Outstanding performances from "the dude" Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and surprisingly, Hailee Steinfeld, who should have made more movies like this one: less singing and dancing, more acting. The Coen Brothers deliver on this in so many ways: tight story, well-acted, well-written. The old timey dialect is like a sort of poetry in certain scenes. Action, adventure, a plucky young protagonist, thrills, chills--this movie has it all. Love the dreamlike horse scene toward the end--really beautifully done--and the final scene, with well-chosen, well-rendered song, will stick with you long after the credits roll.

Much more faithful to the Charles Portis novel... submitted by Steve Amick on August 7, 2022, 6:04am While also being uniquely Coenesque, the odd narrative voice works much more like that in the novel than in the dumbed down "original." Plus, you don't have to look at lumbering John Wayne and his tiny tiptoe gait and have to suspend complete disbelief that A) "Marion Morrison" could have fought anyone and B)people were killed in his world with zero blood. (Wayne thought it was "disgusting" to not glamorize the killings by having even a small "splash of red paint," as he put it.)
