Typhoid in early 1900's

Nice YA/older middle grade historical fiction, about a Jewish girl in turn of the (20th) century NYC who gets a job at the Dept. of Health & Sanitation - and ends up helping quarantine Mary Mallon (aka Typhoid Mary). Interesting look at class, ethnicity, and death - especially from disease.
