This map is based on a peninsula-wide magnetic survey conducted by the Dept. of Geology, Michigan State University, during the period from June, 1960, to January, 1962, supplemented with data obtained from private surveys of limited ares. Magnetic observations and reductions were made by students and staff of the Dept. of Geology under the supervision of W.J. Hinze. Data taken from U.S.C. and G.S. magnetic charts were used to eliminate the normal magnetic variation.
