You'll never get your EGOT Justin Timberlake submitted by jaegerla on February 8, 2011, 11:45am It isn't clear to me how this movie achieved the amount of recognition it has. It's a story worth hearing about, I liked the ongoing theme of rejection, and there were a few other clever things going on. But added all together this is still not enough to be considered best picture of the year. This film doesn't even touch on what Black Swan accomplished. The only explanation I can come up with for how The Social Network reached so much notoriety is Justin Timberlake. Obviously, he used his powerful allies in entertainment and politics to get the Oscar nomination for Best Picture. It must all be part of his mission to get EGOT bling. Anti-social submitted by markwells on May 15, 2011, 11:53am I enjoyed The Social Network. I found it interesting to see how a 25 billion dollar enterprise came into being. I like the premise that Facebook was basically born out of three things: computer skills, female rejection, and alcohol. What the movie lacks is a character that one empathizes with. Maybe in this true story there truly isn't a hero and maybe I'm old fashion thinking a movie should have a hero but am I the only one who just couldn't wrap my heart around any of those Harvard brats?

entertaining submitted by adimarzo on June 30, 2011, 11:25am This was an entertaining movie and an interesting look into how a fabulously successful company got started. I agree with jaegerla that it doesn't measure up to best picture of the year.

boring! submitted by codyson159 on July 8, 2011, 11:47pm this was the most boring movie ive ever seen!!! waste if my time!

Great! submitted by ljq on July 15, 2011, 10:00am If The King's Speech had never came around, then this movie surely would have sweeped the oscars. It was very dramatic, letting you know about what happened behind the scenes to get Mark Zuckerberg up to what he is today. However, it doesn't seem to be very factual

meh submitted by ekgolden on August 2, 2011, 7:40pm it was ok. it wasnt the best movie, but it was interesting how the facebook was made.

well since... submitted by lekendrick on October 7, 2011, 12:22am Justin Timberlake my dim sum snack mate got dragged into it even I'll say I'd liked the film, but law & order snatched from the headlines aside it'd struck me as nominated because of stencil met! More speaking to state academy arts & sciences or academia it's in the twins not actually being identical or process mirror work alone shooting w/ so much glass more product of troubles be told! Than sway which was horror story website walking footsteps behind a set holly wood elite, but running www.monosony.com I'd been heartened! Lots of people own websites point not lost! An screen shots or mentions of companies that built along lines of godaddy.com or my office live hosting fine truism to art! Not exactly the hero be told as lousy contractor or subcontractor & these really reductive claims of investments placed in company fine trend!

Pretty Good submitted by emjane on July 14, 2012, 9:04pm For those of you who have managed to avoid the hype, I’ll give a brief synopsis. Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) creates a website that crashes Harvard’s servers and brings him to the attention of the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer) who are looking for a programmer for a Harvard-exclusive dating-site they’ve designed. At the same time, Zuckerberg turns to his friend Eduardo (Andrew Garfield) to help him fund and create The Facebook, an idea that may or may not have been influenced by the Winklevoss’s website. Eventually, when The Facebook takes off, Zuckerberg gains the attention of Napster creator Sean Parker (Timberlake) whose influence causes a rift between Zuckerberg and Eduardo. This plot is interspersed with flash-forwards to the two trials regarding Facebook that Zuckerberg faces from the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo respectively.

Sounds complicated? It kind of is, but somehow it is entirely followable. Even though the movie is terribly dramatic (though not quite as much as the trailer might lead you to believe), it didn’t bother me. A lot of that is due to Sorkin. Throughout the movie I often felt like I was watching an episode of The West Wing—even though the subject matter was entirely different. Though Sorkin’s fast-paced, witty dialogue is not how people speak in real-life, I find it so entertaining, I wish it were. Despite the fact that none of the characters were particularly likeable (so there was no one to cheer for), I was invested for the entire movie.

Eisenberg portrayed Zuckerberg with a robotic simplicity, which somehow made his jerkish actions more explainable. This was the first movie I’ve seen Eisenberg in where I didn’t think of him as a poor man’s Michael Cera. Hammer made the Winklevoss twins a great enemy and managed to show each twin’s distinct personality so they weren’t always grouped as one person. And Garfield’s Eduardo was the only character who I felt any sympathy for—he did great.

surprised submitted by ftan on July 16, 2012, 9:27pm i was surprised when i found out jesse eisenburg would play mark zukerberg in this great movie. i think that andrew garfield(spiderman) did a great job.

The Social Network submitted by SBNB on August 18, 2015, 9:01pm Pretty good movie. Entertaining. It's not over-the-top fantastic, but it's worth the time.

Pretty good submitted by zmclaugh on August 10, 2018, 7:42pm For being about Facebook, this is a pretty engrossing movie.

Controversial or not, it had to be made. submitted by lisa on August 14, 2018, 2:10pm And now this is how we'll remember what happened.

Sad submitted by lstorc on August 27, 2018, 2:50pm This movie is a disappointing reflection on the social media youth of today.

The Social Network submitted by Clown81 on July 26, 2019, 9:52pm Watch it if you want to know the backstory to Facebook.

The Social Network submitted by crp on August 29, 2019, 2:26pm This movie doesn't go far enough in portraying Mark Zuckerberg's behavior for what it was. Somehow, he comes across as impish and excusable, and in reality, his knowledge of what he could do with Facebook and its potential was far greater than he let on. They should make a sequel to this called "Ten Years of Destroying Civility and Society: What Facebook has done to the World"

Mixed submitted by jibkidder on June 18, 2022, 1:12pm I have a hard time with Eisenberg, so annoying, and I don't know if Sorkin did the dialogue, but I think he did, and I finally figured out that Fincher's whole thing is he loves contrived, fake sounding dialogue. Brilliant broteur but his taste for phony dialogue holds him back from being one of the greats, if you ask me. Solid music from NIN tho!

The Social Network submitted by maggotnico on August 14, 2022, 8:56am It was OK

Modern Citizen Kane submitted by NickM2005 on July 7, 2023, 10:44pm The acting, directing, writing, cinematography, and score are all 10/10 and this movie deserves all the praise that it gets.

Only OK submitted by hrgray on July 13, 2023, 4:03pm While I thought this movie was well executed, the whole story is about such unpleasant and annoying characters that I found it hard to get into.
