A page-turner with originality submitted by pkooger on January 3, 2012, 9:19am Jemisin's follow-up book to the excellent "100,000 Kingdoms" lives up to its predecessor in every way. The gods and humans in this world seem to share a proclivity for political intrigue and dangerous alliances. Oree Shoth and the strange homeless man she befriends are both hiding magical secrets. When a powerful new religious cult targets them, these secrets start to surface. But which one of them is the cult really after, and why? With magic, murder, conspiracies, romance, and more hidden back stories than a Charles Dickens novel, I loved this book.

Great book submitted by ashflowtuff on July 17, 2012, 9:35am I really enjoyed this second book in the Inheritance trilogy. Great writing and great story. Highly recommend the whole trilogy.

Series getting better submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 26, 2013, 10:29am Better than the first. A really interesting premise. The only thing that didn't work for me was that occasionally I just didn't buy the idea that a blind girl from the countryside could possibly know that much about the world (like the political workings and etiquette of the ruler!) But overall, definitely worth the read. Looking forward to the third in the trilogy.
