Visually Stunning submitted by DownesS on June 19, 2013, 8:22am Baz Luhrmann is one of those brilliant directors in which you either love or hate his films. He takes a beautiful storyline and pumps up the magic with stunning set design, cinematography and amazing costume designs, which are always created by his wife Catherine Martin. Baz's brilliance shines in this wonderful piece of art. This musical is different from others because it takes music from the popular world and throws them into the movie through medleys. There are original pieces written for the film as well and those are gorgeous songs at that. I would highly, highly recommend the Blu-Ray version of this movie because it's really the only way this picture can be viewed. The more HD the better as you can see all the beautiful colors that Baz puts into this movie. Definitely on my Top 5 favorite movie list.

Love story set against lush sets and costumes submitted by ferielp on August 30, 2018, 3:25pm One of my favourite musicals. Watched it as a child and was struck by the colors and textures, most movies now try too hard to be desaturated and serious, so this always feels like an explosion of joy and wonder and is fairly typical across most of Baz's work.
