COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fascinating Eye-Opener submitted by Meginator on June 25, 2018, 7:47pm Being unfamiliar with Afghanistan’s musical heritage, I found this compilation to be full of surprising influences. Along with more traditional songs that seem to draw on a unique confluence and development of Arabic, Indian, and other Eurasian influences are a straight-up pop song and a rock track that is just on this side of metal. The bonus disc is an interesting collection of more traditional instrumental music, which makes a nice companion to the main compilation. Overall, the music is quite vibrant, with a real sense of place to it and unique instruments, and I’m really glad I picked this up.
