A.L 'Bert' Lloyd, along with his contemporary, Ewan MacColl was one of the architects of the folk revival in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a mentor to so many artists like The Watersons, Martin Carthy, Anne Briggs, Louis Killen and Peter Bellamy. He was also the artistic director of Topic Records. This is the first 'live' recording and contains a mixture of his English and Australian folk songs as well as some marvellous story-telling!
The widow of Westmorland's daughter -- The old batchelor -- Short jacket & white trousers -- The little piece of wang -- The lover's ghost -- The kush maker -- Doodle let me go -- Wallaby stew -- Brigg fair -- The proud girl -- The shearer's dream -- Nine times a night -- Prince Heathen -- Mushrooms -- Lord Bateman -- Tamlyn -- the wild goose shanty.
