Very Short Stories from Busytown submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 10:11pm This picture book consists of brief vignettes, sometimes combined into larger storylines, about Lowly Worm and his adventures with the Cat family. The stories have a gentle quality about them, focusing mostly on day-to-day activities with a little bit of surprise and tension thrown in on occasion. The illustrations focus on Scarry’s charming characters and busy environments, with story-specific panels set among and against larger scenes that often have some humorous elements to them. Huckle and Lowly don’t have much in the way of exceptional personality, but they work well as stand-ins for the reader, and readers will enjoy Scarry’s depiction of daily life in and around Busytown.
