hooray, the detective is back!
submitted by manz on August 30, 2010, 11:16am
Detective Erlendur is back! This is the 6th book in the series to be translated. If you don't wish to read this one... I HIGHLY recommend Jar City, Silence of the Grave, and Voices. They are the first three books in the series, and are the best, in my humble opinion, and they didn't win awards for nothing.
I was worried about the translation from Icelandic to English of Hypothermia, after the death of previous translator Bernard Scudder, but I was not disappoined with the language.
I'm fascinated with Erlendur, and his past, his story, his family... So I think I'm bound to enjoy any of the books he's featured in. The award-winning author throws us deep into the chilly air of Iceland once again. A woman is found hanging at a remote cabin. Clear cut suicide. Or is it? The case is closed but Erlendur has some hunches to go on, and he runs across some interesting characters with intertwined pasts. In addition to being caught up in the drama of the case, Erlendur is once again battling his family's past and the loss of his own brother to hypothermia.
Enjoy!
