Nothing like her other "Christmas" books, which are usually uplifting and fun to read, and a chance to get to know some minor characters from her other books a bit better.
In this book, the minor characters were never characters I was interested in. This book follows some characters into the underbelly of 1860s London, to search for someone who has gotten mixed up in that life. The search takes them deeper and deeper into squalor, and I just don't get it. How is this an uplifting Christmas story?
entertaining submitted by kathscot on June 30, 2016, 9:49am Like the other books, this one features peripheral characters, Henry Rathbone and Squeaky Robinson. True, they go into the "underbelly of 1860's London," but I didn't find it unpleasant to read.
