Brief, unoriginal, why did the library buy this??

Mark John Sternal is obviously a talented musician and teacher, but his main pursuit is shameless profiteering. This book offers nothing that is not already in public domain old method books. It is extremely simplistic, has no explanation of the details... It is actually WRONG to suggest that the Western 12-note system is all there is in music.
This book is exactly this:
Basic interval names, such as minor second, perfect fifth, etc. It shows shapes on guitar frets on same string and across strings for each of the basic intervals
Then there's a brief list of chord intervals and scale intervals.
Then the alphabet system with no real details.
Lastly, advertisements for the author's other publications.
The quotes on the back are absurd hyperbole. Someone claimed that this book summarized her first year of college music theory. As someone with a music degree, I can say absolutely that such an idea is nonsense.
This is like someone charging you to print out something from Wikipedia (or any of hundreds of other places online where these ideas are available)... except it is worse quality. There's no particular value of the book format in this case. There's ONLY 15 PAGES OF ACTUAL CONTENT, and it isn't valuable content either.
