Picking up steam... submitted by cherylo on June 18, 2012, 9:39pm The premise is that this is one of a series of books whose main character, Nikki heat is supposedly inspired by the character Kate Becket with whom Castle works on the series. If you're not a fan of ABC's TV series Castle, I'm not sure why you would seek out this fictitiously-attributed novel. On the other hand, I strongly recommend the TV series. Go watch that, and come back when you are ready. I can wait. .... Fans of the series may well enjoy this extended experience of the world of the show. It was a nice piece of entertainment, and reads largely like an extended episode of the show, except the names are changed, and certain of the circumstances. For example, in the novels, 'Rook' and 'Heat' have a more than platonic relationship, but in the TV series, the relationship between Castle and Beckett is all smoke and no fire. So far ;-) Solidly plotted and written. More like a full novel than the first book, Heat Wave (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1346524).
