highly disapointing submitted by ferdoble on August 2, 2011, 4:40pm This is of the vain of book movies that isn't that good in its own right and not even faithfull enough to the book to get that demographic to like it.

COOL MOVIE submitted by blinkymal on December 7, 2012, 3:12pm Great movie HOPE 2nd one comes out soon(but not as good as the book)

THE BEST MOVIE EVER(if you like Greek gods and fantasy and the special effects are great)

PURE AWESOMENESS

Ok submitted by Smiles on June 27, 2013, 10:11pm Truthfully speaking, the movie really disappointed me. The characters were ok but it was missing A LOT of details. And really important details too. The books were a lot better than the movie and the movie just kinda ruined them... There were missing characters and they are planning on making a sequel... it was just a HUGE disappointment.

HORRIBLE!!!! I HATE IT!!! submitted by xiwang on June 30, 2013, 5:29pm Whoever read the books first would agree with me. GUARANTEED. The books were so much better and the scenery and pictures of the movie completely butchered the job of depicting Camp Half Blood. The actors were okay, but the director completely screwed up. 4 words: READ THE BOOKS INSTEAD!

Read the books instead submitted by cherylo on July 4, 2013, 2:25pm Having read the book first and been thoroughly enthralled, and being a fan of Kevin McKidd (Poseidon) and Sean Bean (Zeus), I was looking forward to this movie. However, I spent most of the film yelling at the screen. The effects are excellent. The performances are equally wonderful. However, the script writers, producers, and/or meddling studio execs absolutely butchered the story and many of its details. I am not hopeful that the further adventures of Percy Jackson will be filmed, and I'm not even sure how they would reconcile the differences in the story arc if they attempted to make a series of it.

I therefore only recommended this for the completist, or possibly the movie fan wanting to see the performances of the particular actors involved, which are actually quite nice.

Updated to add: the second book, Sea of Monsters, is being made into a movie. I will watch it if only to see Nathan Fillion (Castle, Dr. Horrible's Siing-Along Blog, Firefly) as Hermes, but my expectations for the story itself are very low.

SSSScccarrrrryyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! submitted by yingchenjin on July 7, 2013, 7:03pm this movie was really scary the first time I watched it ( I was in kindergarden at that time and I was also with a friend).

watched submitted by nicenora2371 on July 15, 2013, 3:55pm i watched this at my friends house

Greek Mythology submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 23, 2013, 9:48pm Raised by a single mother, Percy struggles with school because of his dyslexia and ADHD. This makes the series one of the few positive portrayals of people with disabilities (particularly learning disabilities) in science fiction, especially as the dyslexia turns out to be due to his ability to read ancient Greek, and the ADHD an ability to sword fight.
The series is also a great way to get a new generation learning about ancient Greek mythology, including such Gods and Goddesses as Poseidon and Athena.
The movie is fun, but, of course, the original book is far better.

Awful submitted by ifechijie on August 24, 2014, 10:50am The book was way better. The actors are horrible and the movie is fake. The plot sucks and it is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Who made this?!

Great movie - mythology submitted by KSB2013 on June 15, 2015, 8:33pm Great movie - mostly true to the book. Definitely read the book first.

Lightning Thief submitted by SBNB on June 30, 2015, 1:41pm At the beginning, I thought it had the potential to be better than the book. And even though I liked both Grover and Percy more in the movie than in the book, it still wasn't enough to make this movie great. A lot of stuff was changed, but they weren't positive improvements in my opinion.

good submitted by ptoschlog on July 16, 2015, 7:55pm This book was really good, I liked the suspence. I also liked that it wasn't the old story line.

Good submitted by palanijr on August 18, 2015, 1:33am i think the movie is good
