Funny Sh*t submitted by Sara W on August 22, 2011, 6:23pm Justin Halpern's book is light, funny and unexpectedly sweet. I don't expect books that repeatedly reference diarrhea to be sweet, but there you have it. This book is based on one simple gimmick - the hilariously blunt and profane pronouncements of Justin's dad. Done wrong, this could have been a really lame book. But Justin made it a book worth actually reading - not just a collection of jokes.

The description of the book's genesis provided good set-up and I thought the set-up of each chapter having a long story followed by a collection of quotes was ideal. Each story gave the reader a better sense of both Justin and his father and then the quotes were just successive punchlines, and I laughed out loud at many of them. If the longer stories weren't there, I'd say both Justin and his dad would look like jerks. Instead, we get heartwarming coming-of-age stories and touching proud-parent moments. And several of jokes about diarrhea.

hilarious submitted by Jackie77 on August 20, 2015, 9:15am I don't have a twitter and never heard of this before. The title of the book caught my attention. I was cracking up all the way through. Each chapter gives a bit of information regarding situations that happened during his childhood. At the end of each chapter are short quotes of stuff his dad said about the situations. I laughed at all of them as it's stuff my dad would say too.

A Comedic Memoir submitted by delenich on July 10, 2023, 9:17am Based on a Twitter account with humorous and often times profane quotes from his father. Was pretty funny to read, but may not be for everyone as there is not a lot of depth and has a reliance on shock value to carry it through.
