COMMUNITY REVIEWS

LOVE submitted by esfahana on September 12, 2010, 7:16pm At first I was hesitant to watch this movie because I heard it was very sad. But my friends convinced me to watch it and now I can't believe I didn't want to! It sounded like a boring love story but it's much more.

Tyler Hawkins has had a rough life. His brother, Micheal, committed suicide 5 years ago and now Tyler is just trying to make his way though life while caring for his little sister, and dealing with his gruff father. Tyler's friend, Aidan is sick of Tyler moping and sets him up with Alyssa Craig, who's father arrested Tyler and Aidan a week before. It's love at first sight. Ally is funny, uplifting, and strangely enough, has had enough pain of her own to understand Tyler. Remember Me is heart-wrenching story about love, pain, and how to deal with both.

So good! submitted by ColeenT on July 13, 2011, 5:19pm Loved it

Awful submitted by emjane on July 14, 2012, 8:24pm Tyler (Pattinson) is a depressed young adult dealing with his brother’s suicide, his rocky relationship with his father (Pearce Brosnan), and general malaise. After Tyler gets in a fight with a cop, his roommate Aidan (Tate Ellington) dares him to ask out the cop’s daughter, Ally (Emilie de Ravin). Tyler does, and the two begin a relationship.

The thing is, throughout the entire movie, I was trying to figure out what story they were trying to tell. The sappy piano heavy score and Pattinson’s brooding made it clear they were going for a Notebookesque vibe, but there was no real plot. In the last 15 minutes of the movie an attempt was made to justify why these people’s lives were important, but it didn’t succeed. The twist seemed gimmicky and was a cheap way to get people emotions.

Even taking account that they were not given much to work with, the actors certainly did not impress me. It was abundantly clear that the actors with the three largest parts (Pattinson, Brosnan, and de Ravin) were all foreigners putting on American accents. Patinson’s was good and Brosnan had only a few slip-ups, but de Ravin’s was just horrible to the level of distraction.

Remember Me submitted by avrogers1 on June 20, 2017, 11:28am This was a very sad, but very good movie.

Somewhere between good & awful submitted by LVDS on August 23, 2018, 10:10am I wouldn't go to the extremes of any of the previous reviews.
Cheesy predictable "love/lust" story of two young people who've had terrible tragedies in their lives.
Pattinson's chisled face is handsome to watch. The story is slow at times.
Sweet endearing brother sister relationship.
Absent dad.
Lot's of broken hearts to be mended.
Surprise ending.
