classic yet new submitted by adimarzo on June 19, 2012, 9:54am The Black Keys have a unique sound that is also reminiscient of classic 70s rock bands. Lots of great tracks on this CD especially Howlin' for You and Tighten Up.

Blues Without Soul or Feeling submitted by Meginator on June 14, 2023, 11:22am I know this album has gotten a lot of critical acclaim, but I think it is horribly undeserved; to me, this sounds like terrible indie cosplay of the blues with absolutely no soul in it. Sure, the duo is excellent at writing the memorable guitar-based riffs that anchor the songs, but they completely lack any sense of conviction in the lyrics; there’s a fine line between telling ones troubles and simply whining, and the Black Keys can’t help but fall into the latter. I was wholly unconvinced by the (lack of) emotions in the songwriting and vocal delivery, to say nothing of the rigid delivery of supposedly swung guitar parts, and without the sense of longing that is core to the blues part of the duo’s indie blues-rock ambitions, the album falls completely flat.
