Sad But Intriguing
submitted by sdunav on August 13, 2011, 10:05am
An interesting novel about family secrets and mysterious powers and food. I enjoyed it, but it was a little too sad for me. The whole family led lives of such quiet desperation. I wanted more drama and happiness in their lives, and some moments of transcendence would have been nice. And not the kind of transcendental oblivion that Joseph finally achieved.
Also, I love lemon cake, but lemon chocolate cake? That's just weird.
Fun idea, a little sad submitted by steveiew on June 12, 2020, 12:42pm Overall the idea of being able to taste people's emotions in the food they make is very interesting but there was a level of sadness in the overall book that was a bit of a downer.
