COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Unsure submitted by Meginator on July 11, 2011, 10:10pm My jury is out on this album. Firstly, I was a bit distracted by my expectations for this album, which were somewhat different than what it actually offered and which I fear may color my reaction to the CD a bit. Secondly, even given this, I'm not quite sure what the band was going for, and thus whether they successfully achieved it. Much of the album blends together in a wave of pop-dreaminess, though "Rock Me Now" stands out (even if I can't quite make sense of it). I also thought "Soft Rock Star," the album's concluding track, was quite strong, if only because it offered a bit of a break from the rest of the disc. This strikes me as the kind of album I'd like to listen to after some time has elapsed, to see whether anything strikes me anew upon visiting it again, but for now I think it's a decent, if not particularly noteworthy, effort.

Metric submitted by glennauerbach on June 17, 2012, 3:28pm Metric is a very good band. They write interesting songs, songs that I could listen to for hours on end.

A little different than their later work submitted by klickitat on August 31, 2012, 8:49am If I remember correctly, this album was held up in production and wasn't released until after their first album (OLD WORLD UNDERGROUND) was a hit, although technically it was recorded first. So that explains why it sounds different than their edgier later work. I prefer the re-mix of "Soft Rock Star" (last track).

Listen to the other albums first! submitted by KOH on July 27, 2018, 12:40pm Not my favorite of theirs.
