While John, a young soldier, is home on a temporary leave, he meets and falls in love with Savannah, a college girl on her spring break. Savannah promises to write to John when he is sent overseas. Though they meet only sporadically, they continue to stay in touch through love letters that eventually bring fateful consequences.

Good
This was a sweet romance film.
Not quite the book
I read the book and loved it. It's an okay storyline, but definitely not the same as the book. The movie changes the character development by leaving out crucial aspects of the book. If you just watch the movie on its own, it isn't quite so disappointing however.
