Great series submitted by karenkay on July 14, 2011, 8:36pm Abby and Tess are two sisters who set up a pet sitting service. Abby wants to become a vet, loves animals but can’t have them in her apartment building. Their mother is pregnant and then has twin boys. Abby struggles with adjusting to her new siblings as well as their cramped apartment. In each book, Abby and Tess take care of a different type of animal. The reader learns facts about the animals including how to care for them. Each story involves some problem that comes up during their pet sitting time. This series is great for an accelerated elementary school reader, as I suspect it is written for the age of Abby – sixth grade. Abby is a positive female model, the language is not offensive and the writing can be tolerated by adults – even when read multiple times.
