Lt. Terence McDonagh is a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is to scoring drugs while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves and together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

not for me submitted by Jackie77 on August 9, 2015, 1:17pm I did not like this movie. I like the actors and director but not the movie. It was dark

Strange Choice for Herzog submitted by jibkidder on July 26, 2022, 9:40am Why exactly did Herzog choose to remake this film? And, why did he reintroduce the amazing hollering song "Old Lost John" by blues master Sonny Terry which he originally used to conclude the amazing Stroszeck from the late 1970s? I am uncertain. But the songs reappearance does certainly constitute the film's high point. This film is probably most relevant to anyone who just simply gets a kick out of Nick Cage, Abel Ferrara certainly hated it.

Bad Lieutenant submitted by yufamily on August 6, 2022, 8:48pm Eva Mendes' acting was great. Haven't seen her in a movie these past few years.
